Hoists & Winches

Wire Rope Electric Hoist (WREH)

Capacity0.5t – 100t
Span / ReachLift height up to 200m
Duty ClassFEM M2 – M5 (medium to heavy)
Applicable Standards
EN 14492-2FEM 9.511IS 3938

Electric hoist using multi-layer wound wire rope on a drum. Higher lift heights and capacities than chain hoists. The standard lifting unit for single and double girder EOT cranes in industrial facilities.

Key Features

  • Wire rope on machined drum (1 or 2 drum arrangements)
  • Two-speed motor or VFD variable speed
  • Conical rotor brake motor (self-locking on power loss)
  • Low headroom design available
  • Motorised long-travel and cross-travel trolleys
  • IP55 enclosure standard; IP65 available
  • Emergency limit switches: upper, lower, slack rope
  • Anti-sway and weighing options available

Typical Applications

  • EOT crane hoist unit
  • Monorail systems
  • Process plant lifting
  • Automotive production
  • Foundry lifting
Limitations

Larger and heavier than chain hoist for equivalent capacity; requires periodic rope inspection and lubrication.

Hoists & Winches

Electric Chain Hoist

Capacity0.1t – 20t
Span / ReachLift height up to 30m (standard chain container)
Duty ClassFEM M1 – M4 (light to medium)
Applicable Standards
EN 14492-2EN 818-7ASME HST-4IS 3938

Compact hoist using Grade 80 or Grade 100 load chain. Lower cost, lower headroom, and simpler maintenance than wire rope hoists. Ideal for capacities below 10t in service and maintenance applications.

Key Features

  • Grade 80 / Grade 100 roller or bush load chain
  • Single or double chain fall (halves speed, doubles capacity)
  • Spring-applied, electrically-released disc brake
  • Pendant control standard (2, 4, or 8-button)
  • Push, semi-geared or motorised trolley options
  • Low-headroom (LH) and extra-low-headroom (XLH) designs
  • ATEX/Ex-rated variants for hazardous areas
  • Stainless steel chain for food and pharma

Typical Applications

  • Workshop maintenance
  • Pharmaceutical production
  • Food processing
  • Small fabrication
  • Service pits
Limitations

Limited lift height (chain container size); not suitable above 20t; regular chain inspection and lubrication required.

Hoists & Winches

Air / Pneumatic Hoist

Capacity0.25t – 30t
Span / ReachLift height up to 30m
Duty ClassHazardous areas, constant cycling
Applicable Standards
EN 14492-2ATEX Directive 2014/34/EUIECExASME HST-6

Air-motor-driven hoist for use in ATEX/IECEx hazardous areas (oil, gas, chemical) and environments where electric sparks are prohibited. Infinitely variable speed by air throttle. Overload-proof by nature (stalls under overload without damage).

Key Features

  • No electricity at the hoist — inherently ATEX safe
  • Infinitely variable speed via air throttle
  • Overload proof — stalls safely under excess load
  • Can run at reduced speed under full load continuously
  • Low maintenance (fewer moving parts than electric)
  • Available in stainless steel for corrosive environments
  • Integrated load limiter

Typical Applications

  • Oil refineries and gas plants
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical production
  • Paint spray booths
  • Offshore platforms
  • Explosive storage facilities
Limitations

Requires compressed air supply (7–10 bar, large volume); higher running cost than electric for continuous use.

Hoists & Winches

Manual Chain Block / Lever Hoist

Capacity0.5t – 50t
Span / ReachPortable — no power required
Duty ClassMaintenance, rigging, emergency use
Applicable Standards
EN 13157 (chain blocks)EN 13157 (lever hoists)ASME B30.21

Hand-operated chain pulley block (CPB) or lever hoist for maintenance, rigging, and emergency recovery. No power supply required. Lever hoists (Tirfors/ratchet type) are also used for horizontal pulling and tensioning.

Key Features

  • No power supply needed
  • Compact and portable
  • Mechanical advantage via chain falls (2, 3, or 4-fall)
  • Lever hoist: horizontal pulling up to 50t
  • Load-holding pawl for safe suspended load
  • Galvanised or stainless chain for corrosive environments

Typical Applications

  • Field maintenance and repair
  • Rigging and positioning
  • Emergency equipment recovery
  • Tensioning slings and chains
Limitations

Manual effort required — fatigue risk on large loads; slower than electric; not suitable for production lifting.
